WHO WE ARE
A Home for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
My Place Residential Care is an Assisted Living Facility located in Festus, MO. Our sister facility, My Place Too, is located in De Soto, MO. We provide a home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We take pride in providing a nurturing, home-like environment where our residents can feel accepted, appreciated, and loved. This would not be possible without a dedicated staff who love the residents as their own family. Our goal is to provide positive supports while encouraging individuals to reach their full potential by doing things that they desire in a safe setting and in a safe way. Many individuals spend a large part of their lives learning what they cannot do. We would like them to spend the rest of their lives learning what they can do!
WHAT WE OFFER
OVERSIGHT
The facility is staffed 24/7 so that there is always someone available to help the residents and support them in the event of an emergency. The residents are not allowed to walk off-site unattended, but are encouraged to use our outdoor activity areas. We recently added a large patio area at each location, complete with gazebo and activity areas. This provides the residents with a calm, safe place to enjoy the great outdoors! They are also given frequent opportunities to participate in activities in the community with staffing and transportation provided. Our goal is to give them as much freedom as possible to enjoy an active and meaningful life with their peers.
SUPPORT
A number of our residents have lived independently in the past, but found that they became isolated from others and overwhelmed by fear and anxiety. We provide these individuals with both safety and community, allowing them to live a life free from fear and isolation.
Whether helping them to manage their finances, providing personal care services (bathing, brushing teeth, cutting hair, etc.), or scheduling and transporting to doctor appointments, we are here to help our residents manage all aspects of their lives.
We provide 3 meals a day along with a snack and work to maintain a healthy, balanced diet. We also administer all medications as prescribed by their physicians.
ACTIVITIES GALORE!
We participate in numerous activities with Next Step for Life, the local “leisure services” provider. These activities include: Movie nights, dinners out, special trips, dances, and Special Olympics sports, i.e. basketball, softball, bowling, bocce ball, track & field, and swimming. We also have an activity coordinator who organizes and transports our residents to many other activities! She plans holiday parties, magic shows, Cardinals & Blues games, WWE wrestling events, talent shows, swimming, petting zoos, barbecues, and the list goes on and on! We also celebrate all major (and minor) holidays. We love a good excuse to throw a party!
OTHER AMENITIES
One fee is charged for all services provided. This includes cable in all bedrooms, personal care products, and transportation to local doctor appointments and facility activities. Many of our residents work at JSI, the Sheltered Workshop in Jefferson County. Others have gone through Vocational Rehabilitation to find employment in the community. As long as an individual is eligible for Medicaid, we do accept social security benefits as payment for room and board.
WHERE WE'RE LOCATED

My Place Residential Care is our flagship location. This home was built upon a dream by Mary Casey to provide a home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It was opened by the Casey family in 2001 with a mission to provide a safe, home-like environment to the residents who live there. When you walk in the building you're sure to be greeted with a smile and a hug from our loving residents! This location features a large fenced-in patio with a deck and gazebo. It also has a basketball goal and activity areas for the residents to enjoy with many other fun expansions planned for the future.
MY PLACE TOO
My Place Too is located in De Soto, MO. This home was modeled after My Place Residential Care and serves as a more rural alternative to the Festus location. This location is classified as an RCF*, which means that the residents must be able to evacuate the building independently in the event of a fire. Aside from this, staffing levels and services provided remain virtually the same. Our De Soto site features a large patio with gazebo, walking trail, basketball court, and activity areas. Assisted by the generosity of private donors, we have many other fun expansions planned including a fire pit surrounded by wooden swing sets.
